When asked “How are you today?” Pastor always replies “I am better than I deserve” as a way of remembering God’s gifts are not earned or deserved. His mission in life is to honor God in all that he does. That mission was inspired by 1 Samuel 2:30 – “God said to Eli: For them that honor me, I will honor, and they that despise me shall be lightly esteemed.”
